When you’re moving house, making sure you have every detail organised is really important to keep costs – and stress levels – as low as possible. If you’re taking a van, or more than one, with you on moving day then parking it can be a nightmare. We’ve put together some tips for how to arrange parking for your move.
First off, ask if your removals company can sort it out for you. They might have a contact who can get permission for them to park in certain areas, or they might have their own permit. If not, it’s possible that they’ll make the necessary calls to get it sorted for you anyway!
If they can’t do it, don’t fear – call the local council of where you’re moving to, and let the transport office know when you’re planning on moving. Be as specific as possible in terms of date and time, and how long the vans will be there for, but ask for extra to cover any delays. You just need the vehicle’s registration number and you’re good to go. If you can, tell them what sort of vehicle it is, too: the more you help them, the more they’ll be able to help you.
It can be scary trying to organise big things like parking permits but when it’s done, it’s one more thing you can tick off the list and one step closer to life in your new home.
