Best Van and Man Ltd Terms and Conditions Please see the terms, where "We, Us, Our/s, Ourselves" refers to Best Van and Man Ltd and "You, Your/s" refers to the individual making the booking. 1) The Quote: a) Our quotes are based on an hourly rate, depending on the vehicle type, team size, day of the week and hour of the day. Further, we may impose one-off charges for floors (when manually climbed), mileage, Congestion Charge, parking charges or other expenses that may arise. b) We reserve the right to amend the quote prior to the booking, on the spot or retrospectively, if new circumstances arise. c) The minimum hire time, is the minimum hourly charge for the booking. The minimum hire cannot be reduced once the service has been completed, regardless of how long the service has taken. d) Once the pre-booked time has expired, the charge for the next hour begins immediately. Once it has begun, the charge for every next hour is due regardless of how far into the hour, the service has taken. For e.g. a service that has been completed in 126 minutes is considered a 3-hour job. 2) Starting Time: a) Booking times are guidance only. You should allow 30 minutes leeway before or after the time of the booking. For any period of time exceeding that, we will contact you at our earliest convenience. b) The service starts at the prescribed time assuming the team/s are on site, earlier if agreed upon with you in advance, or later when the team/s arrive at the site. c) The service ends when the van is unloaded, or later if agreed upon in advance, e.g. to assemble furniture after unloading. d) Once the service has ended, we will have no further obligation to you. 3) Payment: a) We will advise on a deposit, which covers part of the full price. The deposit serves as a guarantee of your commitment to us, and guarantees that a booking has been made. It is to be paid in advance of the service. b) We advise that the remainder is paid at the end of the service in order for the matter to be resolved in the best interest of both parties. As per contract, full payment must be made no later than the end of the day of the service. c) Any payment received thereafter, is to be considered a late payment and is subject to a 10% interest fee. d) If you fail to make the correct payment, without prior agreement with us, within the lawfully prescribed timeline, we will commence legal action to recover the debt. 4) Items: a) We expect a reasonably accurate description of the number of items, as well as a mention of anything out of the ordinary, for e.g. an American fridge freezer. b) We reserve the right to refuse to move items that have either not been properly declared, or that we consider inappropriate for the scope of our service, e.g. motorcycles. c) We expect all items to be prepared for transit appropriately, including packing and disassembly where necessary, unless we have agreed to do that ourselves. We do not accept responsibility for any damage caused as a result of inadequate preparation of the items, including damage caused to external bodies such as walls. 5) Parking on Private Land: a) Parking on private land is not subject to the laws that regulate parking on public land. Therefore, it often requires prior authorisation, or payment, if it is managed by a parking enforcement agency. It is up to you to ensure that parking authorisation has been acquired, if necessary, at any and all of the properties we visit as part of the booking. b) Failure to acquire parking authorisation on private land, may result in the keeper of the vehicle/s, us, to be issued a Parking Charge Notice(PCN). PCNs are an invoice, alleging damages due to breach of contract. They are not a legal penalty. Consequently, we consider them a parking expense. If a PCN has been served, we will let you know as soon as possible. If we are unable to successfully appeal a PCN, it will be charged back to you. 6) Cancellation: a) You may cancel a booking up to the date before the booking, in order to qualify for a refund. b) Cancellations made on the date of the booking are considered late cancellations and the deposit is non-refundable. c) We reserve the right to cancel your booking, without refund, if you fail to present to the agreed upon location and fail to contact us, within 30 minutes of the time of the booking. We may consider extenuating circumstances and either refund the deposit, or contribute it to another booking. 7) Exceptions Any written correspondence, between you and us, will overrule the above if any contradictions have occurred. For e.g. if we agree to a set price, instead of an hourly charge. This document is a formal contract, into which you enter with us, and agree to its terms, by submitting a deposit and making a bookin All quotes are calculated based on the information that you supply. Please ensure that you provide a reasonably accurate description of the number and size of items to be moved and list them in the quotation/booking form Parking: We are experienced in minimising the risk of incurring a parking ticket. However, please be advised that if a fine were to be issued, the cost is added on to the total amount payable. Arranging adequate parking is the responsibility of the customer. If a penalty charge is incurred anyway, we request immediate payment to the driver by the customer. We will always do everything we can (within the law!) to prevent this from happening. Disclaimer: Please note: Whilst every care is always taken, Best Van and Man Ltd cannot be held liable for any accidental loss or damage to furniture, property or electrical goods that is incurred while handling customer goods.
Single items: Due to Health and Safety regulations and insurance, any single item must not weight more than 30kg PER MAN lifting it. If you are looking to move a very heavy item, please ensure that you have requested enough people to carry it. We reserve the right to refuse transit if items are potentially dangerous or harmful to our staff or the customer.
Packed Items: Delicate and fragile items must be adequately packed or otherwise protected by the customer. We only carry blankets for general protection while the goods are in transit. Where we have not packed or unpacked your goods (which includes goods packed in boxes, cases, cartons, luggage, wardrobes, drawers, or other type of container) we will not be liable for:
a) the loss of these goods or any item or items comprising part of the these goods;
b) damage to any item or items as customers packing their own goods should ensure that all items were adequately packed and packaged to withstand normal handling.
